Just Accountability

Oscar Grant absolutely deserves justice. Johannes Mehserle serving a punitive sentence of some sort, would be a great start. Looking at the situation from a wider view, however: will penalizing one rent-a-cop remedy the larger situation that Mr. Grant succumbed to?

What has always bothered me about our system of crime-and-punishment in the United States, is that we always seek to penalize messengers, without ever critically examining the systems behind those messengers. We seek redemption

Sentimental Segue

Everything has a time and place. That was written as the beginning sentence of what will be the next Pebble I publish.

What began as a segue mid-Pebble took on a life of it’s own, and as the warm lump in my throat grew I figured I’d just let my trip down memory lane become it’s own piece. The other stuff I set forth to write about- ideas and ruminations much more worthy of kicking
